Tips on Using YouTube to Build Your Blog
We talked about using Pinterest to market your blog, so now let’s get deeper into image and video marketing.
We are talking about YouTube.
YouTube is one of the biggest search engines on the web, only second to Google. This video platform has tremendous search and marketing power to help you build your blog audience.
What to Share
You may be thinking, what can I possibly make a video on? A great place to start is with tutorial or review videos. No matter your niche, you can find some sort of how-to topic to do a video on, or a product to review.
Do you write about parenting? Share parenting tips or review baby products. Run a recipe blog? Record videos of yourself making some of your most popular dishes. If you blog about blogging, use screen shot software to help you do a tutorial video on anything from setting up a blog to how to use a certain plugin. Get creative with the things you share. Think of what your audience is most interested in and use YouTube as another outlet to talk about those things.
How to Use Your Videos to Drive Traffic
Because you’re using YouTube to build your blog, you want to ensure you’re doing whatever it can to get the most attention with your videos. Here are some tips to make them more effective.
- Fill out your profile. Like other social networks, it’s important to completely fill out your profile. On your channel page, add your logo and your social media links. Utilize your About page and tell your audience about yourself and your blog. Don’t forget to add your links to this page as well.
- Post great videos. Just as you should always post well-written content on your blog, you should post quality videos on your YouTube channel. If your videos aren’t good, nobody is going to want to watch or share them. To create a great video, just be yourself. Don’t try too hard; if you are naturally funny, be funny. Let your personality shine through, while offering some valuable information and you have a winner.
- Think of your audience. You are trying to build a tribe with your videos, so focus on engagement and interaction rather than page views. Like we already mentioned, let your personality be seen. Engage your audience by posing questions in your video and in the description. Respond to any comments you get.
YouTube is a huge search engine, and if used correctly, can really help drum up interest and drive traffic back to your blog.
