We’ve already talked about how to market your blog with Pinterest in this post, and how to turn your Pinterest profile into a traffic generating machine. Now let’s talk about how to really make your blog stand out.
Make your account searchable. The first thing you should do is ensure that your Pinterest page is visible to the search engines. Boards won’t show up in the search results unless you make sure that they do. Head over to your account settings (in your profile, it will be under the gear symbol on the top right hand corner) and look for “Search Privacy.” Make sure that the switch is set to the word no.
Utilize relevant keywords. Now that your boards are discoverable on search engines, you want to make it even easier for people to find them. Using keywords on Pinterest is much like using keywords anywhere else. The key here is to figure out what your target audience will be searching for. Add keywords to your board names and descriptions, and also to your pin descriptions.
Place your popular boards up high. Just like anything else on the web, is important to keep your best content above the fold. What does it mean? It means placing your best stuff where people can see it without having to scroll down. Drag and drop your boards to rearrange them.
Pin infographics. Infographics are still hot and show up beautifully in your Pinterest feed. It’s should come as no surprise that they have found a following on Pinterest. If you aren’t creating your own infographics for your blog, pin posts from other relevant blogs that do have them.
Play with image shape. The eye is naturally drawn to things that are different. To make your pins stand out in a sea of rectangular-shaped pins, try rounding the corners on your images. Or even placing your text in a bright colored circle. Sounds like nothing, but this simple trick can ensure your pin is the different one in a Pinterest feed, making it stand out to your followers.
By now you know Pinterest is a great place to market your blog. But tons of other bloggers know it too. Use these tips to help your blog stand out above the crowd.
