Some people are content with blogging for fun. Others, not so much.

Google AdSense. This is a tried and true way to make money blogging. Simply sign up for an account (super easy if you already have a Google account) and link your blog. You can customize the style, size and color of your ad. Place these on your site in prominent places. You will earn a little each time a reader clicks on one of these ads.

Affiliate programs. This is another way to place ads on your site, except this one allows you to pick the vendor or product you are advertising. Sign up for programs like Amazon Associates, Commission Junction, Rakuten Affiliate Network or ClickBank. Like with Google AdSense, place ads on your site and you get a small percentage every time someone clicks through and buys something from your link.

Private ads. If your blog has enough traffic and a fairly high page rank, you can partner up with businesses and feature their ads for a fee. This one takes a bit more time because you have to work at building up your traffic and readership, but it does pay out more than the previous two ad options.

EBook sales. A great way to make money blogging is by selling your own stuff because all the proceeds go back to you. An easy way to start to by writing an eBook. You are already writing blog posts – writing an eBook isn’t that far off. Look at which of your posts seem to be do the best; these are the topics your audience is most interested in. You can even use from of your previous blog posts to create the content for the book.

Other products of your own. Not interested in writing an eBook? Consider selling other products. This can be physical (for example homemade lotion if your blog is about natural products) or electronic (like exclusive recipes if you have a recipe blog). There are many different things you could sell, just think about your own audience and what they would like most.
