Just the other day I was in a Facebook Group where I noticed advice from an entrepreneur. She said in summation that “websites are so 90’s” and my jaw hit the floor.
While her intentions were probably not bad, this is so incredibly untrue, it actually hurts. To be fair, she may have been burned by a bad website investment, or by a website development without strategy for growth.
Websites are not 90’s fads.
You know what IS a 90’s fad? Bad websites with static content, messy content, tons of paid advertisements, I could go on all day!
Websites are a growing, important tool for a variety of reasons. So let’s dive into our 5 main reasons as to why investing into your website is so important.
1. Social Proof
Think of your top 3 favorite companies. It could be Coca-Cola, or Pat Flynn, maybe even KFC.
Now look at their websites. Every major brand has a stunning website. There are many different ways that the psychology of your website can help potential buyers/customers to trust your brand, even before you become a big name.
Now, you don’t need a Coca-Cola sized marketing budget to have an attractive website. Sometimes it is as simple as trying a new theme with a pleasing aesthetic.
The value of social proof is not to be ignored.
2. Be Proud
Remember your first iteration of your first blog/website? Were you proud to send others to view it?
Your website should reflect your brand, your beliefs, your core values, and – most importantly – your personality!
By creating a website and brand that you LOVE, you are more likely to send others to it with an enthusiastic approach.
3. Ease of Navigation
As if the Google mobile algorithm didn’t change things up enough in terms of website ranking, consumers are beginning to really dislike websites that are not easily navigated via mobile.
It also can be surprising to you how many consumers or potential consumers don’t know exactly what you offer.
By creating a clean and clear strategy for your website layout, consumers won’t be lost in the links and photos. Visitors will see your website, and know exactly what you offer.
