Marketing With Pinterest

March 10, 2015

For blog marketing, Pinterest has consistently been one of the top contenders. It meshes content, image and social interaction beautifully, in one user-friendly platform. For bloggers, Pinterest is a great way to market your blog and drive traffic to your site. Here are some tips for marketing with Pinterest.

Create a board for your blog. When you start using Pinterest to market a blog, start by creating a board specifically for your articles. This will make it easy for your readers and followers to find your content. Name your board in such a way that it is obviously your blog’s content. You may want to add in a relevant keyword or two to make it show up in the search results.

Have eye-catching images. Marketing with Pinterest is all about images. While your goal is to get them to your blog and to read your content, you need to use your images to grab their attention. Use high-quality, interesting photos. Make sure that your images do match your content as to not be misleading.

Make it easy for your readers. You want your readers to help you spread your content on Pinterest and the easiest way to do that is to have a “pin it” button on your site. By using a plugin, you can make all your images pin-able. You can also include a button to follow you on Pinterest. The more people that follow you, the more your content gets shared, driving more traffic back to your blog.

Interact with your followers. Like any other social platform, marketing with Pinterest is about interacting. Follow people back and repin things you see in your feed. You can also check out who pinned your content by going to www.pinterest.com/source/yourblog.com. This page will show you all the pins from the URL you specify. You can either “like” the pin by clicking the heart icon; or even better, open up the pin and personally thank the person for pinning and sharing. It’s a small thing but works well as a marketing tactic.

Pinterest was a late comer in the social media scene, but it blossomed quickly into a great platform to interact and market a blog on. Follow these tips to get started for marketing with Pinterest, and watch your content spread and your traffic grow.
